Joshua 3:14-16 ESV
“When the people set out from their tents to pass over the Jordan with the priests bearing the ark of the covenant before the people,  and as soon as those bearing the ark had come as far as the Jordan, and the feet of the priests bearing the ark were dipped in the brink of the water (now the Jordan overflows all its banks throughout the time of harvest),  the waters coming down from above stood and rose up in a heap very far away…”

The first generation of Israelites that left slavery crossed through the Red Sea in fear. The next generation crossed through the Jordan River in anticipation. The first generation that passed through the Sea did not believe, it had to be proven to them. The next generation I believe was excited to see God move mightily for them.

The first generation, in their new found freedom saw more miracles in a short amount of time. The second generation had only seen a couple of miracles but still believed God.

The things that we see impossible can be handled one of two ways, in fear and trepidation or in anticipation and expectancy. When I was a child we used to sing this chorus.

“Got any rivers you think are uncrossable?
Got any mountains, you can not tunnel through? God specialises in things thought impossible
And He can do what no other power can do!”

Do not doubt or fear what seems impossible but with wide eyed anticipation, expect and believe that you will receive.

Prayer:
Father, You have never failed me. In the past I have limited you with me doubt and fear. Help me to believe and receive.
