Walking With Jesus
Ephesians 5:15-17 NIV
“Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is.”
Paul gives three important aspects in our walk with the Lord.
- Live as wise people. Wise people have obtained knowledge and understanding and know how to apply wisdom to their lives. They know how to turn that knowledge into wisdom. They not only know what to do and what not to do, but after achieving wisdom they know how to guide others. Guiding can only come after we have achieved a wise life, being sensible, intelligent, discerning people where we live as examples.
- Make the most of every opportunity. We have to be careful how we live, not in fear of this life but as children of God looking for opportunities in God’s plan for our lives. We need to make the most of every day, of every opportunity that affects our walk with Jesus. Do things with purpose that will do the most good for ourselves and for the wellbeing of others.
- Understand What the Will of the Lord Is.
Paul instructs us that we should not be foolish, (uncaring, haphazard, thoughtless, senseless) but in every situation understand what the will of God is for our lives. We can find God’s will by not conforming to the pattern of this world but being transformed by the renewing of our mind (daily). Then we will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—His good, pleasing and perfect will. (Romans 12:2)
Prayer:
Lord, I want to be the most effective in my life. Give me the wisdom of what to do and what not to do. I know the time is short, and the urgency is there for me to make the best of every opportunity. Give me Godly wisdom, guidance of the Holy Spirit and the presence of Jesus in my walk with You. In Your name Lord Jesus, Amen!
