Hope
Psalms 119:114,116 ESV
“You are my hiding place and my shield; I hope in your word. Uphold me according to your promise, that I may live, and let me not be put to shame in my hope!”
Hope is vital to our existence. Hope is a precursor to faith. While faith is believing and trusting in something that you cannot see, hope is imagining that there is something there to even believe and trust in. It is the belief in what could be. Hope redefines what is probable and opens the paths to the impossible. Without hope, there can be no faith, because we would not even bend to pray about those things we could not imagine.
Helen Keller said, “When one door of happiness closes, another opens; but often we look so long at the closed door that we do not see the one which has been opened for us.” I use that quote because that’s how I see hope. Longing, believing for the better even when the worst is present, that is hope.
Prayer:
My hope is in You Lord, Maker of heaven and earth. To believe in You is automatic to me. To hope something works out, takes great faith.
