God Revealed through the Son
John 14:9 AMP
“Jesus said to him, ‘Have I been with you for so long a time, and you do not know Me yet, Philip, nor recognize clearly who I am? Anyone who has seen Me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father?’”
Philip had asked Jesus to show the disciples the Father. Jesus was astounded at the request. This was a jaw dropping question that Jesus was taken back to hear Phillip’s words. Why?
Jesus had already said in John 12.
“And whoever sees me sees him who sent me. For I have not spoken on my own authority, but the Father who sent me has himself given me a commandment—what to say and what to speak. And I know that his commandment is eternal life. What I say, therefore, I say as the Father has told me.” (John 12:45, 49-50)
Jesus coming was a fulfillment of God’s plan to be among us in human form. Jesus speaking to us what God was telling Him to say was a fulfillment of the spoken word coming directly to us from God, not through a prophet, this way there could be no confusion of what God was saying. Jesus paying the ultimate price to bring us back to God was a fulfillment of the Father’s redemption plan to bring us back in right relationship with Himself.
If we have seen Jesus spiritually change our lives, we have seen the Father at work in our lives.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for loving us so much that You came and revealed Yourself to us through Your Son, to have a relationship with us and so that we can be more than just overcomers, we can live a joyful, fulfilled life through You.
