An Excellent Spirit
Daniel 6:3 ESV
“Then this Daniel became distinguished above all the other high officials and satraps, because an excellent spirit was in him. And the king planned to set him over the whole kingdom.”
When we are uncompromisingly walking with the Lord, His Spirit is in us, and His blessings are over our lives. At these times we tend to have favor with God and favor with man as well.
Luke 2:52 says that the young Jesus, “…grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man.” Understand, in His younger years, he was God in flesh, but he was living as a boy, as a son, a brother, and a friend. His character spoke volumes about His demeanor.
Daniel made sure he followed the plan of God, even though he was in a strange land, around strange people, and their customs. Still, he was well spoken of by the king and those who served by his side. Having a distinguishing character and persona, is a blessing of God.
Daniel was also excellent in times of controversy. He stood faithful and true to God and although he was thrown into the lion’s den, God preserved his life.
We have also found in life when we are well spoken of, there is always someone who wants to knock us down a few notches. In these times, we have to run our race despite what others say and do.
We answer to Jesus with our words, character, and relatability. How we handle controversy tells people exactly who we are.
Prayer:
Lord, keep me in the palm of Your hands, never let me stray from the path You have chosen for me. Even when I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me. (Psalms 23:4) In Your name Lord, Amen!
