1 Corinthians 15:58 ESV
“Therefore, (because of all I have taught you) my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain.”
Paul is encouraging the Corinthian church to remain faithful to everything he had taught them. To be steadfast and unmovable is to be spiritually grounded. A steadfast person knows what he believes and cannot be “tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching (Ephesians 4:14).
An unmovable person can hear false teaching, engage doubters, and defend truth without it shaking his own faith. Steadfastness cannot be confused with stubbornness. I taught people years ago that had an idea of the things of God but were far from biblical reality. Check your beliefs with the word of God, not man’s interpretation. My new slogan is; The best interpretation of the Word of God is the Word of God. (Get a good translation! Then read the Bible everyday, it will clarify itself if we search it diligently!) Be steadfast in what you believe!
Prayer:
Father, the world is confusing, sometimes from church to church the message can be confusing. I choose to abide in Your Word. In the pages of Your Word is real life, liberty, and truth! I can base my life on Your Word!
