Ecclesiastes 12:12-13 NLT
“But, my child, let me give you some further advice: Be careful, for writing books is endless, and much study wears you out. That’s the whole story. Here now is my final conclusion: Fear God and obey his commands, for this is everyone’s duty.”
Millions of books have been written about how we should think, how we should live and how to get the most out of life. Millions of books have been written about the Bible, how to understand the Bible, how to read the Bible and properly interpret the Bible.
Solomon says the understanding of life and understanding God’s Word all boils down to; “Fear God and obey his commands, for this is everyone’s duty.” The fear of the Lord can be defined as the continual awareness that our loving heavenly Father is watching and evaluating everything we think, say and do.
In order to develop the fear of the Lord, we must recognize God for who He is. Those who fear the Lord have a continual awareness of Him, a deep reverence for Him, and sincere commitment to obey Him. Obedience to His word is not negotiable it is required. Jesus said, “If you love me, you will keep my commandments.” (John 14:15)
Prayer:
Father, life, real life, is only found in You! I stand in complete awe of You! Your Word will forever be my guiding light!
