Proverbs 3:3-4 NLT
“Never let loyalty and kindness leave you! Tie them around your neck as a reminder. Write them deep within your heart. Then you will find favor with both God and people, and you will earn a good reputation.”
Kindness isn’t hard to do for a lot of Christians. We tend to know, understand that it is a requirement from God. Loyalty or faithfulness is harder to come by, it is reserved for a few that are very close to us.
Why is faithfulness so hard? We tend to protect ourselves from getting hurt. It’s not a flaw, it’s actually part of our psychological make up, We put up walls to protect ourselves from getting hurt. Of course God, His Son and His Holy Spirit are three that we should always trust they will never disappoint us, but other people that we are not that close to we tend to mistrust.
Putting ourselves out there for people that are not close is risky, but that is exactly what Jesus did when He came to this earth. In fact some of His close friends didn’t remain loyal, or faithful, but He remained faithful because that’s who He is and what He does for all of us.
Take the example from the Savior, be faithful no matter if the people we are faithful to are not faithful to us. It shows the character of Christ in us and according to this scripture, it will bring us, “favor with both God and people, and…earn (us) a good reputation.”
Prayer:
Father, help me to prove myself faithful. Even if others are not faithful to me. I want to be like Jesus. I want to be considered a faithful Christian.
