My Value is in Jesus

John 15:5 NIV
“I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.”

I have a sign over my desk that says, “Lord, I need inspiration, dedication, direction, discretion, and anointing. For without You I can do nothing, nothing at all.”

I wrote that to remind myself that without God I am nothing. Everything that I produce at this computer is nothing without the hand of God.

Jesus said, if we remain in Him and He dwells within us and works through us we can accomplish much fruit. What is this fruit that we are supposed to bear?

Natural fruit is the product of a healthy plant, it is producing what it was designed to produce. For us, bearing fruit describes a person’s outward actions that result from the condition of the heart.

Actions like loving and being lovable. Being joyful in all situations and not a reactionist. Seeking peace and creating a peaceful environment wherever we go. Learning how to be patient. Performing random acts of kindness. Being a good person and doing good. Being faithful to relationships and faithful to God. Being gentle so as not to rub people the wrong way. Displaying self-control in all situations, and being able to contain our will, anger and emotions.

Prayer:
Lord, I repeat this saying You gave me, “Lord, I need inspiration, dedication, direction, discretion, and anointing. For without You I can do nothing, nothing at all.” Amen!
