Microwave Society

Psalms 1:1-3 NIV
“Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, but whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night. That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither— whatever they do prospers.”

Life is a process. When we are born, it takes time to learn how to walk, how to feed ourselves, how to understand our environment. As we grow, we develop, and it seems like life goes by in slow motion. Then as we get older, it seems like life is flying by and we can’t catch up with it.

We live in a microwave society; we want everything instantaneously. We want our food instantly, we want our internet high-speed, and we want people to change instantly, but it doesn’t work that way with people and it doesn’t work that way with ourselves either.

In this Psalm there is a process involved, and it does not work instantly. It’s progressive, follow the pattern;

1. We learn who not to hang around, because they pull us down and taint our lives.

2. We learn to find comfort and peace in God and His word.

3. Then we become fruitful, prosperous, beautiful people, not just our, or for others necessarily, but we become beautiful and fruitful for God especially.

Prayer:
Lord Jesus, get us out of the microwave mentality and back to slowly becoming who You want us to be. Then we will bear beautiful fruit for You. In Your name Lord Jesus, Amen!
