All for One and One for All

1 Samuel 30:22-24 ESV
“Then all the wicked and worthless fellows among the men who had gone with David (to recover families and belongings that were stolen) said, “Because they did not go with us, we will not give them any of the spoil that we have recovered…  But David said, “You shall not do so, my brothers, with what the Lord has given us. He has preserved us and given into our hand the band that came against us… For as his share is who goes down into the battle, so shall his share be who stays by the baggage. They shall share alike.”

David does not contrast those who fought with those who were too tired to fight. The men that guarded the equipment and provisions of the company (including that of the four hundred men who fought) was necessary. While these men were not able to pursue the enemy and fight, they were able to do something.

In our service to God, we cannot all do the same things. See the teaching of (we are all in this together) in (1 Corinthians 12:14-30) We all have different abilities, opportunities, and circumstances that we have to deal with. We should do whatever we can.

I served behind the scenes for 35 years. There, I was able to touch and communicate one on one with more people than most pastors ever have the opportunity to touch, one on one. Sure, pastors may minister to the masses, but we get to touch people one on one.

Prayer:
Father, never let me feel superior or inferior, but just a part of the body of Christ using my abilities the best that I can, touching lives, one soul at a time.
