Father’s Day
Proverbs 22:6 NLT
“Direct your children onto the right path, and when they are older, they will not leave it.” (NLT)
When I think about this scripture, I always go back in my mind and try to remember a few things:
Did I train my children correctly and give them the direction that they needed to win in this life and the life to come?
Did I live by Example?
Did I show proper boundaries of discipline?
Did I love them enough, hold them enough, hug them enough?
Did I train them to be good citizens of this world?
Did I train them to be citizens of God’s kingdom?
Did I train them to care about people whether they were friends or not?
Did I teach them how to find the right jobs or career?
Did I teach them the importance of training and finding ways to be successful?
Did I show them interdependence in the home setting?
Did I let them know they could depend on me but give them enough room to be independent?
Did I teach them to always depend on God and the truths found in His word?
Did I teach my children how to pray?
Did I teach my children how to read the Bible?
Did I teach my children how to hear the voice of God deep in their spirits?
Did I teach them about actions and repercussions for their actions?
Did I teach them about eternity and all it holds for the just and the unjust?
I may never know how I did as a dad, but I pray for my children and many of your children every day.
Prayer:
Lord, where I lacked as a dad, please be their Father and guide them into all truth. Bless them and keep them, keep them from harm and danger, sin and evil, sickness and disease. Open up their spiritual ears to hear you. Teach them how to love and be loved. Forgive me for my short comings and fill their life with blessings. In Your name Lord, Amen!
