God Our Firm Foundation
1 Samuel 15:29 NIV
“He who is the Glory of Israel does not lie or change his mind; for he is not a human being, that he should change his mind.”
In this passage, Samuel was dealing with a lying, manipulating King Saul. Saul was disobedient to God’s commands. Samuel was telling Saul that he had disobeyed God in what he was supposed to do. He reminded Saul who he was supposed to be serving, not himself and not necessarily the people, but God. He went on to tell Saul, God does not lie or manipulate or change His mind or act like His creation, He is a just God.
We live in a world where lying has become second nature, people do not even have to think about it anymore, it just rolls off their tongues. We see it from the smallest to what should be the greatest. But we hold on to God’s unchanging hand. We know the only truth is found in God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit and we can count on that.
We can count on God, what He set in order in the beginning will stand forever. What God has established for me and you will come to pass. God has promised in Deuteronomy 28 that if we obey Him, He will bless us.
If our confidence is in God, He will prosper the work of our hands, and the things we care about., He will establish our way. What should we do with this knowledge? Give it all to Jesus.
Prayer:
Lord in a world that is spinning out of control the one who we can count on to always be a firm foundation is You. Thank You that “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.” (James 1:17) Thank You for being the truthful loving Savior that You are, Amen!
