Proverbs 31:28 ESV
“Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her…”

I know this scripture is used a lot but I think it gives all the accolades a mother needs. Lots of women can be mother’s but not all mother’s are the caliber that Solomon is describing. This mother is resourceful, energetic, thorough and worthy of praise. Solomon says that her children rise up in honor to pay her homage for being one of the best. “Her children… call her blessed.” Her children are the best ones to judge her character.

They have seen her in good times and they have seen her when life at home was not so good. They have seen her happy and they have seen her angry. So, when Solomon says her children call her blessed, they are saying her character is exceptional. They are proud to be her children and they will cause her reputation to live on even when she is gone.

Prayer:
Father, the way we speak of our mothers is our perception. When we speak of our mothers, help us to recall the best of their characteristics.
