Deuteronomy 4:9 ESV
“Only take care, and keep your soul diligently, lest you forget the things that your eyes have seen, and lest they depart from your heart all the days of your life. Make them known to your children and your children’s children…”
We have seen a lot in our life time, some good, some bad. Everything that we have seen is a lesson for learning. What I mean by that is; every experience screams, “do this more often,” or “don’t do that again.”
For the new generation of Israelites, Moses was telling them remember both the good and the bad and tell them to your children and the future generations so that they will not make the same mistakes and that they will do the things that will bring them peace and contentment.
Everything that you have seen in your lifetime, pass it on to your children and grandchildren. They will choose to test the same waters, but they will also remember what brings peace and what brings pain.
Prayer:
Father, I can’t just tell my children the good and leave out the bad. If I give them both they will make a choice which path they walk but they will also remember my words of warning and my words of blessings and peace. Help me to leave a smooth path to follow.
