Lift Me Up
Psalms

“Psalm 40:2 (NLT)
“He lifted me out of the pit of despair, out of the mud and the mire. He set my feet on solid ground and steadied me as I walked along.”

I think we have all been at this point where David was at, in the pit of despair. Unfortunately, this pit does not come with a warning sign not to enter the pit, or you will be sorry. No, unfortunately we just seem to be walking along and land ourselves right in the middle of trouble.

When we try to get out of those troubles, it’s like that Florida gumbo clay, it just sticks to us, and we can’t get out if we tried. I’ve dug a few foundations in that clay, and it is the worst.

When we fall prey to our own pathway, and we fall into those troubling times where it seems like we cannot get out. God is right there to pick us up, clean us up, and put us back on solid ground, He‘s great like that!

I like what David said at the end of this verse; He steadied me as I walked along. Sometimes, the way is rough and even when we do make it out of the pit, we still need Jesus to walk beside us and hold our hand. He is always there, whether at the pit of despair or on the mountain top, He is always there to steady our walk with Him.

Prayer:
Lord, we need You every hour of every day. The days that You bring us out of the pit, walk along beside us, steady our steps, hold our hands, make sure we gain our footing. We need You Lord Jesus to lead us on. In your precious loving name Lord Jesus, Amen!
