Philippians 3:8 ESV

“Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ.”

Paul had come to the point in his life that all his accomplishments, all his gifts and talents, all the influence that he had gained through his years, all the wisdom and knowledge didn’t amount to a hill of beans compared to knowing Jesus and His resurrection. It was all worthless compared to what he had in Christ.

Whatever we gain in this life, it all pails to knowing Jesus as Lord and Savior. That relationship is everything!

Prayer:
Father, every good gift, every bit of truth I have gained is because of you. This world and its wisdom will pass away, the only thing that matters is what I gain in my relationship with you. Help me to keep this in perspective.
