Your Kingdom Come, Your Will be Done
Matthew 4:17 NLT
“From then on Jesus began to preach, “Repent of your sins and turn to God, for the Kingdom of Heaven is near.”
Throughout the New Testament, the word Kingdom refers to the rule of Christ in the hearts of believers. That is why I gave a scripture yesterday concerning the great treasure of the Kingdom of God. Yes we are American citizens but we are not OF the world, we just live in the world.
There was a bit of confusion I believe yesterday on my explanation of the hidden treasure, the treasure is the Kingdom that we live in, and that relm is with Jesus as our eternal King and we enjoy all His benefits. The term translated “kingdom” is the Greek word basileia, which means “the realm in which a sovereign king rules.”
The kingdom of God is a spiritual rule over the hearts and lives of those who willingly submit to God’s authority. Those who defy God’s authority and refuse to submit to Him are not part of the kingdom of God. In contrast, those who acknowledge the lordship of Christ and gladly surrender to God’s rule in their hearts are part of the kingdom of God.
This Kingdom is only for those who have given their hearts and lives to Jesus Christ. We enjoy the benefits of the Kingdom spiritually on earth and the fulfillment of the Kingdom when we live with Jesus forever.
Prayer:
Lord, You are my King and I enjoy the benefits of Your kingdom in my heart and my spirit. It’s like a deposit on the Kingdom to come.
