You Lack Nothing

Deuteronomy 2:2-4,6-7 ESV
“Then the Lord said to me, ‘You have been traveling around this mountain country long enough. Turn northward and command the people, “You are about to pass through the territory of your brothers… You shall purchase food from them with money, that you may eat, and you shall also buy water from them with money, that you may drink.

For the Lord your God has blessed you in all the work of your hands. He knows your going through this great wilderness.  These forty years the Lord your God has been with you. You have lacked nothing.”’

Moses was giving a series of speeches to the next generation of the Israelites heading into the promised land. This generation, except Joshua and Calib, had only known the desert, but they had also witnessed some great miracles from God.

Moses is telling them that as they pass into Esau’s family lands to buy from them, don’t take from them, buy from them as a blessing. I find that incredible that as much as Esau was despised, God still wanted to bless his ancestors, that’s a loving, forgiving God.

In verse 7 Moses tells that generation, despite 40 years in the desert, an exile of sorts for the last generation, that they lacked nothing. They had water when they needed it, food delivered by God instead of “Door Dash.” Their close never wore out or their shoes. (I need a pair of those shoes) They were led by a pillar of cloud during the day and pillar of fire by night.

God defeated their enemies all along the way. God taught them through Moses, His laws and decrees. This generation had seen the best from God, when their parents only saw the worst from their perspective. This is my point, follow God, be obedient to Him, His definition of obedience, nor ours, and we will lack NOTHING!

Prayer:
Lord, help us to walk with You, to communicate with You, love and adore You like You love and adore us. Then You will provide a way always for us, that’s just who You are! In Your name Lord, Amen!
