I Long to Hear

Psalms 143:8
“Let me hear in the morning of your steadfast love, for in you I trust. Make me know the way I should go, for to you I lift up my soul.

There are many things that bring the Christian comfort, but there are two in this Psalm of David that will resonate with us all. David is in distress in verses 1-6 of this Psalm, so he asks to hear some good news from the Lord in verse 7.

We all like good news, so hearing how much God loves us and is there with us is primo on our list because we trust Him. He never fails, He never walks away from us, He always provides, always loves and His love never diminishes or grows weak. In His great love, the Lord provides healing, restoration, and peace.

David asks in the end of this scripture, “Make me know the way I should go, for to you I lift up my soul.” We know the way to go, most of the time but no one knows one hundred percent of the time. So, at those times we need to take off our navigational skills and give Jesus full control from there. David asked for directions from God and then he gave God full control by saying, “…for to you I lift up my soul.”

So, for the good news, God’s love for us never fails, and He never walks away. If we let go of our own will and give Him full control, He will never disappoint. As a matter of fact, the more we trust Him, it seems that we sense a deeper abiding love, not because His love is any different at that point, it is just our acceptance of His love gets richer.

Prayer:
Father God, make us to know the way we should go, and while we are going, remind us again how much You love us, Amen!
