Overcoming Peace

John 16:33 NIV
“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

In this passage Jesus starts out with good news; “In me you MAY have peace.” Understand my capitalizing the word may, it is a choice if you want His peace or not. It’s a good statement, do we want the peace of Jesus or do life on our own?

Then the bad news, but at least He is honest and upfront about it, “In this world you WILL have trouble.” That is not an if, we will face trouble. This is not heaven, we are on foreign soil. I know, we want the Lord to remove the troubles of life, but that is not how this life works.

Then the Lord speaks volumes by saying basically, don’t worry, I’ve already won the battle with the world and its corrupt system. It is a win win offer for us, trust Him.

Basically, Jesus is saying; “you can find peace in Me and you will find the temperance to get through the troubled times. In those troubled times, see Me, I have already won that battle, I know the path through, and I will keep you at perfect peace through the trouble.”

Prayer:
Lord, I know that You do not always remove the trouble, You walk us through the trouble providing peace and assurance. You also provide the wisdom and the knowledge to navigate this life. We choose You, take us through and stay close by our side please? In your lovely name Lord, Amen!
