Going Home

Ezra 1:3 ESV

“Whoever is among you of all his people, may his God be with him, and let him go up to Jerusalem, which is in Judah, and rebuild the house of the Lord, the God of Israel—He is the God who is in Jerusalem.”

The Jews were in exile for seventy years. They were in exile because they sinned against God. God still took care of them in Babylon, but they were far away from their homeland, living among their enemies. Then a new King came into power and declared that the Jews could go home to Israel. More importantly, he commanded them to rebuild the temple that lay destroyed for seventy years.

What’s the message? God can change any situation if we humble ourselves and seek His face. God can intervene in ANY situation, even if we feel like it is hopeless. As God did with Israel, He not only brought them home by the command of a foreign king to live in freedom, but He also provided the materials needed to rebuild the temple free of charge. God can do ANYTHING!

Prayer:

Lord, we look to You, the Author and Finisher of our faith. Our God, our Redeemer, our Savior, Master, and Provider, we praise You for watching out over us and providing for us. In Your name, Lord Jesus, we give You praise! Amen!
