God Provides

Genesis 4:24 CEV
“And Adam’s wife again became pregnant, and she bore a son and called his name Seth. For God, she said, has appointed for me another child instead of Abel, for Cain slew him.”

Bad things happen in this life. As sin entered the world, sin steamrolled right into murder of the fourth person on this earth. Abel, he was the second son of Adam and Eve. Grieved Adam and Eve did not have another child until Adam was 130 years old.

Upon knowing that she was pregnant, Eve stated that “God had appointed for her another child instead of Abel, for Cain slew him.” Wow, a second chance after all those years. That tells me that God, the God of mercy, His mercy extends for all our lives.

If we are honest we are far beyond second chances, some of us are on well over a hundred chances. That shows me God provides over and over and over again. No matter what we have been through, no matter how bad we think what we have been, or how bad our mess ups have been. When we allow God to forgive us, He gladly forgives and sets us up to succeed and prosper.

Prayer:
God, we are often harder on ourselves than anyone else is. We tend to remember every mess up, even when You have forgiven and forgotten the past on purpose! Thank you for second chances, and for the 199th chance to get things right. You are a God of love! In Your name Father, Amen!
