Guarantee

Ephesians 1:13-14 ESV

“In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until we acquire possession of it, to the praise of his glory.”

When we first believed in Jesus and gave Him our hearts and lives, we were sealed by the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit’s seal showed everyone, from heaven to hell, that we belong to God. All thrones, dominions, and powers know that we belong to Him. That should make us feel secure, which should bring us peace and contentment. That takes the fear out of living in this world, because God has sealed us in the work of the Holy Spirit, that we belong to God, and no other entity can have us. By this seal of the Holy Spirit, we also receive a taste of things to come in glory, heaven on earth, so to speak, or the experience of living in the kingdom of God. His kingdom lives and reigns in us right here on earth. You and I are a possession of God; we are His children, and soon, we will receive the fullness of our redemption when we go home to be with Him forever.

Prayer:

Lord, thank You for redeeming us, thank You for saving us. Thank You for purchasing us. Thank You for sealing us as Your own. Thank You for the guarantee, and for the taste of heaven on earth. In Your name, precious Savior, Lord Jesus, we pray, Amen!
