Matthew 5:9 AMP
“Blessed [spiritually calm with life-joy in God’s favor] are the makers and maintainers of peace, for they will [express His character and] be called the sons of God.”
In this passage Jesus is referring to those who will make peace or reconcile people back to God. This not just making peace when we see conflict, this is reconciling people to God, through salvation through Jesus Christ, or leading people back to God through salvation.
Colossians 1:20 says, “and through him (Jesus) God reconciled everything to himself. He made peace with everything in heaven and on earth by means of Christ’s blood on the cross.” (ESV) Jesus death on the cross, and the blood that He shed, was to bring us in peace with God. So the natural act should be for us to bring someone else along.
Jesus is recruiting in this passage. He is basically saying whoever will bring people back to God these are the true sons and daughters of God. These kind of peace makers are interested in the welfare of other people’s souls and lives. Blessed, happy, fortunate are those that will reconcile, for they will be sons and daughters of God.
Prayer:
Lord give us a desire to look around and see who else needs to be a son or a daughter of God and go and take them by the hand and lead them to you!
