Honor to All Mothers
Exodus 20:12 ESV
“Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long in the land that the Lord your God is giving you.”
This is God’s command, “honor father and mother.” This is huge because God is our true Father and Jesus said we are to love God above our earthly fathers and mothers. Still, God’s command is for us to honor our parents because they were intrusted with our lives. No one is a mistake!
This command comes with a promise. Honor our father and mother that our days will be long on this earth. How does that blessing work? Today we Honor our mothers out of respect and obedience. This respect and obedience does not go unnoticed by God, God sees it and blesses us for our faithfulness.
In Old Testament Biblical times, life was the defining factor of blessings. So, His promise to all who obey, is a quality of life, a blessed and meaningful life, a purposeful life. We all have a mother, whether she was a Saint or whether she was a challenge, according to God, she is due honor.
Prayer:
Lord, our mothers all grew up under different circumstances. Some hard, some with ease. Some mom’s brought us to the throne of grace and taught us Your word and how to pray, Some fell short, but we still honor them.
Today the mothers that read this devotion, we honor them, and bless them and ask for Your Hand of abundance to be on them continually! Walk beside them, let them lean on You! In Your name Lord, Amen
