God’s Rescue Miracles
Joshua 3:14-17 NIV
“So when the people broke camp to cross the Jordan, the priests carrying the ark of the covenant went ahead of them. Now the Jordan is at flood stage all during harvest. Yet as soon as the priests who carried the ark reached the Jordan and their feet touched the water’s edge, the water from upstream stopped flowing. It piled up in a heap a great distance away, at a town called Adam in the vicinity of Zarethan, while the water flowing down to the Sea of the Arabah (that is, the Dead Sea) was completely cut off. “
Get the picture, this was not like the Red Sea Crossing, this was a parting of the water on one side only and so far away the children of Israel could not see what was happening, all they could see is that the water was receding. The water stopped upstream and the only water that was flowing was the water that was left in the river bed, remember at flood stage.
The priests are standing in the water, the water is getting lower and the children of Israel are watching all of this happen but they cannot see the water in a wall upstream. This crossing was not like the stories that they had heard from their parents and grandparents of the dramatic Red Sea crossing. In this crossing of the Jordan, at flood stage, was showing this new generation that God can do anything if we will just trust Him.
Sometimes in life we want God to give us the parting of the Red Sea experience, but God rarely does things the same way every time. He has originality. He loves to use His power to work in our lives. He loves to do miracles but even better He loves to give us every day blessings and miracles.
God knows our heart, He knows what will bring the maximum faith experience to our lives. So when things are not resolved the way we think, don’t be shocked, don’t get angry, just watch, listen and learn and be amazed at what God will do for us if we just trust Him.
Prayer:
Father, whatever way You decide to deliver us, set us free, promote us, deliver us, do it! Give us the ability to know and recognize when You move and stand in awe of Your power. I know we miss so many miracles that You do every day, we may call them ordinary, but nothing is ordinary about the way you move in our lives. Thank You Father, Amen!
