His Unfailing Love in the Morning
Psalms 143:8 ESV
“Let me hear in the morning of your steadfast love, for in you I trust. Make me know the way I should go, for to you I lift up my soul.”
When I get up in the morning, I turn on the news just to get a brief idea of what happened yesterday and overnight. Can I tell you it is rarely good news? Then I go to my devotion, and I read the things of God, now that is good news.
David says, “Let me hear in the morning of your steadfast love…” In the morning, we want good news, news of hope, assurance of God’s love and mercy. We want to hear that if God is for us, who dares be against us.’
We get started with our day, we have no idea what this day holds for us and our family, but we ask for mercy, and that God’s unfailing love goes with us and them. David asked that God show him the path that he needs to go. Basically, show us where we should go mentally, physically, and spiritually.
Mentally to get our thought processes in the right direction, away from fear, troubles, and worry.
Physically because we need to know where to go and where not to go today.
Spiritually because our spirit needs to be guided by the Spirit of God of who we are and what we are to be. Setting our spirit to discern to good and the bad of this day. David ends with, “…to You I lift up my soul (or spirit). In other words, God have Your way in me today!
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, we echo David’s prayer this morning. Let us hear of Your unfailing and steadfast love. Show us where we are to be mentally, physically, and spiritually. We give our lives to You today. In Your name Lord Jesus, Amen!
