The Advantage of Having a Great God

Proverbs 18:10 ESV
“The name of the Lord is a strong tower; The righteous run to it and are safe.”

A tower, also called a watchtower, is a tall structure built from a vantage point to spot incoming danger from a distance. A tower represents a place of protection and preservation; it’s a beacon of hope in the thick darkness of the wilderness.

The name of the Lord is our tower, whatever our situation is—God has a name to meet our condition.

If we are struggling financially: God’s name is Jahweh Yireh (Jehovah Jireh)—the Lord will provide

If we are sick: God‘s name is – Jehovah Rapha, our healer, the Lord who heals us.

If we are anxious, and our mind is restless: God’s name is Yahweh Shalom (Jehovah Shalom)—the God of peace

If we are fearful: God’s name is—Yahweh Nissi (Jehovah Nissi)—the lord is our banner (the enemy sees Him and runs).

If we have doubts about God‘s abilities to deliver us—His name is El Shaddai—God Almighty

If we feel abandoned: God’s name is El Elyon—God who sees

Now the second part of this verse says “the righteous run into it and are safe.” The righteous find comfort in God when life gets rough. It does not matter the stage of life we are in right now, the tower’s door is wide open, run in and allow God’s love and peace to comfort us while life’s storms pass over.
