Faith
Matthew 21:21-22 ESV
“And Jesus answered them, “Truly, I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what has been done to the fig tree, but even if you say to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and thrown into the sea,’ it will happen. And whatever you ask in prayer, you will receive, if you have faith.”
On his return to Jerusalem, Jesus passes a fig tree that he has cursed on his way to Bethany on Monday. Jesus uses the opportunity to teach his disciples about faith and informs them that with faith they will have the power to curse or bless the world around them, just as he did.
The message is not in the blessing or the cursing technically, it’s in the faith. We get hung up with the end results instead understanding the lesson being tought by Jesus. The Message is about using our faith to do great things for God. We all have been given a measure of faith, we need no more than what we have been given to grow and achieve in this world.
Using the measure of faith that we have been given can create miracles and yes even using our measure of faith we can stop the kingdom of darkness. This lesson of faith will never grow stale because we will never gain our full potential this side of heaven. But don’t let that stop you, keep digging deeper, see what God can do in you and through you.
Prayer:
Lord, help us to use the faith You gave us to fullest extent possible. In Your name Lord, Amen!
