Christ Who Gives Us Strength
Philippians 4:12-13 ESV
“I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need. I can do all things through him who strengthens me.”
It would be irresponsible of me to introduce verse thirteen without discussing verse twelve first because they are tied together. Paul said that he had learned the secret of facing plenty and facing hunger, and how to be in abundance and be in need. This kind of knowledge has to be lived, learned and experienced. Learning to make the best in any situation. I know people that have abundance but they act like it is never enough. I know people who are hurting but they act like they are victims wrongly treated.
Learning a balance comes from the Lord. He stripped Himself of the glories of heaven to come to this world to teach us the most excellent way, only to be falsely accused, cruelly treated, and then tortured and hung on a cross. But He endured all things to make life better for us through Him. Once we have learned the balance of plenty and empty, than we can say with confidence that we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us.
Our endurance here on earth is building strong, confident, victorious people for the Kingdom of God. That Kingdom lives within us here and then we will live in His Kingdom forever. Learn to be content in all situations, then we can victoriously say, ” I can do all things through Christ who strengths us.”
Prayer:
Lord, teach us to handle this life with a balance. Not grumbling and complaining, but by being thankful for what we have. Lord our strength comes from You. In Your name Lord Jesus we ask, Amen!
