Speaking Life Into People’s Spirits
Proverbs 10:11 NKJV
“The mouth of the righteous is a well of life,
But violence covers the mouth of the wicked.”
Everyday the righteous have two opportunities. They can allow people to pass them by and not give them any encouragement, or they can choose to build someone up. Building someone up can restore confidence and give them something that the world cannot give them, hope!
I hear people speaking death all day long, on the radio, TV and on the streets. That’s their game, that’s not our path to take. We have a mandate, a calling, a duty as those who carry the name of Christ. We have to give healing, whether they deserve it or not. We have to give blessings, encouragement, a smile, a kind word where we can.
Be on a quest, smile at people today, tell them hello, that Jesus loves them. It doesn’t matter if they scoff at those words, we don’t offer it to see if they like what we say, we say it because it’s true. Beyond that, send someone some encouraging words, tell them you are praying for them (and actually do it). Tell them God is their source of strength in times of trouble. Tell them to turn off the news and read some Good News!
Prayer:
Lord, times are hard, we are in a drought of uplifting words in this world. We are overwhelmed by negativity and hate. Lift us as we lift others! In Your name Lord, Amen!
