You are serving the Lord

Colossians 3:23-34 ESV

“Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ.”

We often want validation, even if it is just a kind word that appreciates our efforts, and there is nothing wrong with that. As Christians we should affirm the faith of others by appreciating them and the work that they do.

We know that according to Paul in this letter to the church at Colossae, we are to work for the Lord and not for men in the regard that we believe that men will give us the rewards that we seek. We serve the Lord even if we work for a company, we are working and doing the things that we do to please the Lord. We are to be an example of a hard worker and proper stewards of our time and finances. We are to use our gifts and talents to serve and to be a blessing wherever we can.

Prayer:

Lord, we serve You, and in affect, when we serve in any capacity we serve as if You were watching what we do and how we do it and the attitude in which we perform our duties. Our rewards will come from You in this life, and the life to come. In Your name Lord Jesus, Amen!
