Stirring
Hebrews 10:24-25 ESV
“And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.”
We have come to a time in society where the days are evil. We as Christians, are trying to stay true to our calling from God so we do what is natural. We protect the family unit the best that we can, that is admirable, necessary, and responsible.
But we still have a mandate to lift up and encourage, the body of Christ.which many do within the church walls, but we still have to stir one another up outside the church walls. How do we do that and keep the family safe and secure? We can invite people to our home but often with some that is our safe and secure haven, the place of rest and relaxation, and our place for building the family unit.
So, God has given us an amazing tool called technology. Technology has opened up a whole new level of communication since 911, and especially in the wake of the pandemic. We found especially in the pandemic ways to stay in touch with one another and groups of people. Many will say that this technology came from man and in many cases is used for evil, I get that, but it can also be used to spread the gospel of Christ, love and good works.
The pandemic caused us to stay indoors, technology opened up the doors. It was as if there was a vast new dynamic that swept across the world where we could communicate without leaving our protected environment. We called the pandemic evil, and it was, but God gave a way to keep the doors open to stir up one another to not just communicate in words and voice, but we can see each other as well.
Just in case you think I have lost my mind on this, I give You Jerusalem the first century; the New Testament church of Christians was thriving, growing by leaps and bounds. Then the persecution became increasingly strong against the believers of Christ. Suddenly in a sweeping motion, people began to flee Jerusalem for safety. They went hundreds of miles in every direction possible. What did they take with them? Christianity, the teachings of Jesus, the Holy Spirit and the New Testament church spread like wildfire throughout the known world. God can use anything to keep us and the church moving forward.
Prayer:
Lord, use us to inspire the body of Christ in whatever method you choose, we will use it for your glory. Keep us together, keep us safe, keep us stirred up as we stir one another in whatever way we can. Thank You Lord Jesus, Amen!
