Rise Up
Romans 12:2
“Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.”
Most people can probably quote this scripture by heart. It is a popular scripture, but I was thinking that sometimes our thought patterns get crossed up.
We see the world and how it is going and we try to stay away from the mainstream way of living life because it looks foreign to us. It looks foreign because we have been taught to do the right things, say the right things and act according to Christian standards.
What we see going on in America right now is deeply disturbing and I’m afraid that we have become a laughingstock to the world. We are no longer influential, having higher standards, having right way of thinking about America. We have become like everyone else.
As I woke up this morning, I realized that we are truly in the last days. The Father has not sent His Son as of yet to take us home. This is the time for the church, the body of Christ, to rise up and take stock of who we are, what we are doing, and start speaking up to influence the world. For the most part, we have failed carrying out His mandate.
Lauren Daigle, a Christian artist, sings the song “Rise Up.” It mirrors the story of Lazarus to a point that it is time for us to rise up from the dead (living like everyone else). I take it as a call to rise up. As Christians we have come accustomed to not making waves, now it is time to make waves.
The church has to take care of their own, but we’ve become internally focused, we’ve forgotten to look outside the walls at the world around us and snatch them from the fire. The days are evil, the time is short, rise up. It’s time to encourage family, friends, acquaintances, and strangers to get ready, Jesus is coming soon. Rise Up!
Prayer:
Lord, forgive America and forgive Your church, Your body. We have not done what You have told us to do, influence the world. Your Spirit is drawing people right now, but the voice of the church has grown silent. Give us a fresh anointing to speak. Help us to rise up Lord and be who we were called to be. In Your name Precious Jesus, Amen!
