Understanding Wisdom and Knowledge
Proverbs 2:6-8 ESV
“For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding…”
Understanding is, perceptive insight with the ability to judge correctly. A tip with people; try to listen to understand, rather than listening to reply.
To gain understanding we need to use our senses to listen and observe. With God, we need to really listen and understand that He sees everything and knows all. We see only through a keyhole in perspective, we may think we have it all figured out but we don’t.
Job 28:28 teaches, “Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom; and to depart from evil is understanding.” Knowledge-comes from God, through the experiences, skills, talents and gifts He provides.
We research, read, ask questions and come to an understanding, through that we obtain knowledge. Wisdom-emerges out of the knowledge. It has been said that wisdom iis applied knowledge.
The more we use trial and error of the things that we have learned, we get wiser. It can be said that wisdom, in turn, acts properly upon that knowledge. Wisdom is the fitting application of knowledge. Knowledge understands the light has turned red; wisdom applies the brakes. Knowledge sees the quicksand; wisdom walks around it.
Prayer:
Father, everyday I ask for wisdom, knowledge and understanding, Lord, I look to You as the Author and Finisher of my faith, I trust You to lead me in the paths of righteousness.
