Holy Week-Olivet Discourse
Matthew 26:2 ESV
“You know that after two days the Passover is coming, and the Son of Man will be delivered up to be crucified.”
The Olivet Discourse is the name given to the orderly and extended teaching given by Jesus Christ on the Mount of Olives on Tuesday of the Holy Week. This teaching is going to be to His disciples, the inner circle. His concern for them and the future is amazing, He never stops caring for them, even though in just a few days He will receive the cruelest punishment imaginable, and then He will be nailed to a Roman cross where He will suffer and die for all mankind.
The Olivet discourse is a teaching about what will happen to Jerusalem in the future and what will happen to Israel in the end times during the tribulation period. I will not get into these teachings but you can read about them in Matthew 24:1-25:46. Even if you choose not to read this passage, at least allow your devices to read them aloud to you. The importance in mentioning this discourse is the extreme love and concern for the men that will take the Gospel to the world.
Jesus holds you and I in that same regard when we testify of Him and spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He wants us to know what lies ahead but mostly He wants us to trust Him for all things.
Prayer:
Lord, thank You for Your love, Your compassion and Your concern for us that You come to us and speak to us through Your words and through Your Holy Spirit. Let our hearts, minds and spirits be open and receptive to You at all times as You speak to us about the things to come. In Your name Lord Jesus we ask, Amen!
