Boasting in the Lord

Pslams 34: 1-2a ESV

“I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth. My soul makes its boast in the Lord…”

I often tell people that are feeling down to find some good Christian music that really speaks to them and just sit and listen at first. Then when their spirit gets a taste of that, begin to sing along even if they do not feel like it. Then I say just begin to thank God for bringing you up and bringing you out, even before you feel like you are not out yet.

Praise does some amazing things to the spirit. Our spirits will rise up long before our faces do. A sacrifice of praise, in one sense, is something that we offer up, but we are not quite in the praising mood yet. This sacrifice is getting our minds and hearts in tune with the Spirit of God that lives in us. Then at any opportune time, we begin to offer up the other kind of sacrificial praise. This praise is intentional, this praise is purposeful, this praise is an offering unto God the praise He deserves. This kind of sacrificial praise is for God’s heart only but it benefits us as well.

This morning, whether you are doing great or doing so, so, offer up a sacrifice of praise to the Lord, you will not regret it. In fact, it will bless you!

Prayer:

Lord, I lift up my heart and soul to you. I praise You on the mountain, I praise You in the valley. I praise You in the sunshine, I praise You in the rain. I praise You in perfect peace, I praise You in the middle of the storm. Lord, I lift Your name on high, Amen!
