Mine Enemies
Psalms 143:12 ESV
“And in your steadfast love you will cut off my enemies, and you will destroy all the adversaries of my soul, for I am your servant.”
In Christianity, who are our enemies? Well, we know that satan is our enemy. We know according to 1 John 2:16, “For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh (things we desire that will please our flesh), the lust of the eyes (things we desire because we see it and we want it), and the pride of life (look at what I accomplished on my own)—is not of the Father but is of the world,” those are our enemies.
We know that some people, driven by satan, are our enemies. David was asking for his literal enemies to be destroyed, but the adversaries of David’s soul could have been those things that tormented him or tempted him.
So, sometimes our own thoughts can be our enemy. If we say we are defeated in our thoughts, then we are defeated. If we say we can’t do something in our minds, then we will not be able to do those things. If we say we are useless and unqualified, then that is what we will act like. Be who God says we are, His children, loved, cherished, honored, above and not beneath, and blessed.
He has given us EVERYTHING that we need for life in itself and godliness (2 Peter 1:3). He has equipped us, empowered us, and provided everything we need to be winners, to succeed. We are people that can overcome adversities, sin, evil desires, wrong thinking, setbacks, trials, tribulations. Think like a winner, act like a winner, be a winner.
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, You have defeated satan once and for all times, we don’t have to worry about him anymore because we have given our lives over to You. Now destroy the adversaries of our soul, those things that make us feel weak, inferior, less than, unworthy, unqualified because we love You, we belong to You! In Your name Lord Jesus, Amen!
