Fools Vent Their Anger
Proverbs 29:11 NLT
“Fools vent their anger, but the wise quietly hold it back.”
Many times I hear people arguing and being verbally abusive with one another but these days with the way people’s anger runs, I tend to stay clear when things get too heated anything could happen next. Violence is on the rise and it seems people either can’t control their anger or they don’t want to control their anger.
James 4:1 says, “What is causing the quarrels and fights among you? Don’t they come from the evil desires at war within you?” So if most arguments come from selfish reasons, then control seems to be the issue.
Ephesians 4:26 says, “and “don’t sin by letting anger control you…” or as some translations say, “be angry and sin not.” (KJV) There is a way to be angry but not verbally abuse someone.
We can’t change people’s minds and hearts, only the Lord can do that. Most of the time when someone has done us wrong we feel the only way to verbalize our feelings is to tell them exactly how we feel. But that never really fixes the issue does it?
Solomon says, “Fools vent their anger, but the wise quietly hold it back.” We can appear one of two ways when we are angry, foolishly or wisely, yes it’s just that simple.
Prayer:
Lord, let my words be few, seasoned with salt and let me learn how to act wisely at all points whether joyful or angry.
