Wisdom is Calling
Proverbs 1:20-22 ESV
“Wisdom cries aloud in the street, in the markets she raises her voice; at the head of the noisy streets she cries out; at the entrance of the city gates she speaks: “How long, O simple ones, will you love being simple How long will scoffers delight in their scoffing and fools hate knowledge?”
Every day wisdom is offered, to everyone that wants it, but most people choose to stay with in their own realm of thinking and not expand their minds. Some cannot because of cognitive reasoning, and I acknowledge them, and I understand.
But, for everyone else, wisdom calls. In every conversation that we will have today, wisdom will call, the choice is ours to accept the wisdom or reject it.
In this passage, Solomon says wisdom cries out in the street, wisdom cries out in the marketplace or commerce for us. The head of the noisy streets is at the intersections of the streets.
For our day and time, wisdom calls out at the intersections where people are doing everything at the traffic lights. They’re playing with the radio, texting, talking on the phone instead of paying attention to the other cars and trucks and watching the traffic light.
At the entry of the city gates in the Old Testament was the place where major decisions were made, business was transacted, the wise of the town sat. We can only hope and pray that the wisdom of God would fill and over take our leaders, Governors, Congress, Senators, law makers and our President.
This Proverb from Solomon is for the wise to gain more wisdom, and for the foolish to accept wisdom
Prayer:
Lord, help us all to act and react in wisdom today. In every decision, help us to use wisdom. In every conversation, instead of just spouting out words, help us to think about our words and choose wisdom. We ask in Your name Lord Jesus, Amen!
