Appointed to Know His Will
Acts 22:14 ESV
“And he said, ‘The God of our fathers appointed you to know his will, to see the Righteous One and to hear a voice from his mouth…”
Paul was destined. Not just for the road to Damascus and the transformation that would take place. He was destined even as a boy when he began learning the law and the prophets and the Holy Scriptures.
His learning as a young man was part of his destiny. He believed that his destiny was to uphold the laws of God and be a religious figure,
but not in the way that he imagined. The knowledge he obtained as a young man would become extremely useful in his new walk in Christianity. In the passage today, Ananias prophecied over Paul after his stunning experience on the road to Damascus.
He spoke three truths;
1) God appointed Paul to know his will,
2) To see the Righteous One (Jesus).
3) To hear Jesus’s voice for direction.
All three were fulfilled in Paul’s life.
This is God’s promise to us: for us to know His will, to see Him in the things of this world, and to hear His voice to give us guidance and direction. How do we hear Him? In his words, by His Spirit inside of us, and through the words of those who minister God’s words to us.
Prayer:
Lord, we have accumulated knowledge about You, now we need to bring that knowledge to a higher level. We are ready for a manifestation of the Spirit in knowing Your will, in seeing You, and in hearing Your voice afresh and anew!
