You See Me for Who I Am

Revelations 2:1-3 ESV
“Write this letter to the angel of the church in Ephesus. This is the message from the one who holds the seven stars in his right hand, (Jesus) the one who walks among the seven gold lampstands (the seven churches):  “I know all the things you do.”

Jesus gives John on the Isle of Patmos a great revelation. John is here for exile because of his witness. It is not an island of luxury but an island in which his persecutors thought that he would die a slow death.

This first message to the church of Ephesus is of praise and judgment for the things they have and have not done. Jesus addresses the angel of each church. Some believe the word angel is symbolic of the pastor of each church, no one knows for sure.

What is key about this first letter to the church of Ephesus is, Jesus has some praise for their work and some corrections that they need to make. The first thing Jesus says to this church is, “I know all the things that you do.”

This 2000 year old book is just as important to us today as it was to this church 2000 years ago. Jesus knows everything we do, everything we think, the things we watch on TV, the things we look at on the internet. The way we treat people, our attitudes, our love for other Christian people and the desire for the lost to know Jesus.

The time we spend praying, the time we spend in the Word of God. Our obedience to the Word, in every aspect of the Word. Jesus knows everything! The things that we feel that are secret, the priorities in our lives, the way we love, our ministry, the way we use our finances…EVERYTHING!

Prayer:
Lord you knew me before I was even conceived. You knew me when I started walking with you, You knew me when I have strayed. But You never stopped loving me, You never stopped drawing me back to You. You know every detail of my life, heart and where my passion resides. I need You!
