The Rocks Will Cry Out

Luke 19:36-40 ESV

“And as he rode along, the spread their cloaks on the road. As he was drawing near- already on the way down the Mount of Olives- the whole multitude of his disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works that they had seen, saying, “Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the Lord! Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!” And some of the Pharisees in the crowd said to him, “Teacher rebuke your disciples.” He answered, “I tell you, if these were silent, the very stones would cry out.”

Even though the people were singing and praising Jesus for the wrong reason, they were still giving Him praise that He deserved. They were expecting Jesus to lead them in a revolt against the Roman government and set Himself up as King of the Jews on the throne of David. This was not the time for this action, Jesus came to pay for our redemption and be King over His spiritual kingdom in the hearts of everyone who believes.

Praise will come for the King of Kings, if not, the very rocks will cry out in praise for Him. This morning as people gather together to worship Jesus, remove any preconceived notions and just praise Him for who He is, the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords. If we do not cry out in praise, the angels will praise Him, and the rocks will cry out in praise to Him.

Prayer:

Lord, we praise You this morning. We know what You came to do, and we know who You really are. You are the King of Kings, our Saviour, Master, Redeemer, our Lord. We praise You this morning because we love You. Reveal our hearts this morning Lord that our praise will be pure and sweet and true, In Your name Lord Jesus, we worship You, Amen!
