Mark 11: 9-10 ESV
“And those who went before and those who followed were shouting, “Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! Blessed is the coming kingdom of our father David! Hosanna in the highest!”
Sometimes we get together and we just go through the motions, not fully committed to what we sing and say. Sometimes we allow our bodies to be present but our minds are off in the distance. These people sang praises, but just a few days later will cry “crucify Him.”
If they only knew what they were singing and if they only believed what they were saying. They thought that the Messiah would come and destroy the Roman domination. They thought, at this time,, He would sit on the throne and be their King.
Jesus is the Messiah, He is the King, but at this time He was the spotless lamb that would take away the sins of the world. He came to end all sacrifices by being the greatest sacrifice that would bring grace and forgiveness forever. The Jews missed it because they wanted what they wanted now. They missed the fact that the Messiah paid the price for our sins first, so we could have access to the throne of God without having to go to an earthly priest.
Prayer:
Father, Your answer for our sins was perfect, so perfect that that one sacrifice is still atoning for our sins 2000 years later. Thank you for the Spotless Lamb, the sacrifice that took all of my sins away. I will not be too blind to see, I will not sing to you with just my lips, But I will sing with my heart, Hosanna, because I know and I believe. You loved me so much that you sent Your only Son to wash away my sins!
