Luke 18:35 ESV
“As he (Jesus) drew near to Jericho, a blind man was sitting by the roadside begging.”
Let me set this scene for you; Jesus needs to give His disciples an object lesson. They are too blind to see, too dull to hear and they lack faith in who He was and why He was here. To teach them this lesson, He walks with His disciples 12-15 miles to Jericho. A week before his death.
Along the way a blind man cries out to Jesus. Jesus stops, calls the blind man to Him. Jesus asks the blind man, “what do you want me to do for you?” But Jesus already knew. The blind man said, “Lord, let me recover my sight.” (let me see again) Jesus said to him, “Recover your sight; your faith has made you well.” The disciples were spiritually blind and lacked faith. I don’t know if they saw the lesson they needed to learn but He gave them a beautiful lesson.
Prayer:
Father, sometimes we get blinded by life, we lack faith, we stop trusting You. You are always listening, you hear our hearts cry, and I can always hear you say when we do come to You, “Recover your sight; your faith has made you well.” And the scales fall from our eyes and we can see You again.
