Ever Present Help in Times of Trouble
Psalm 46:1 ESV
“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.”
A refuge is a hiding place, a place of comfort and rest. A refuge can be a fortress, a haven of rest, protection from a storm or from an enemy. It can be a sanctuary, a security, a shelter, and a stronghold.
Terrible things happen in life, it’s a fact, declining health, lack of finance, family trouble, to name just a few. From experience, the devil will use discouragement as a means to frustrate us. When we are discouraged and frustrated we will feel lonely and hopeless, we feel fragile.
At all cost, we must trust and exercise faith in God. In God, we will find peace, comfort, and encouragement. David said in this verse, “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.”
So, if everything falls apart or we find ourselves alone and frustrated, God is ever-present, He is our refuge and the strength we desperately need! GO TO HIM!
Prayer:
Lord, I’ve heard this verse a thousand times. But it still holds true. Everytime I’m alone or afraid or even dismayed, I know You are my refuge and strength. Thank you!
