Majesty
Psalms 145:3-5 ESV
“Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised, and his greatness is unsearchable. One generation shall commend your works to another, and shall declare your mighty acts. On the glorious splendor of your majesty, and on your wondrous works, I will meditate.”
David knew the Father pretty well because of all that he had seen and heard from God and about God. David’s personal knowledge of God is an example to us all. It wasn’t as if he knew everything about God, but he knew enough to praise God and glorify Him.
The more we know about God, the more we will want to praise Him. I firmly believe that those who do not praise God as often as they should is because their personal knowledge about God has not reached a higher level. How can we know more about God? Read God’s words, it gives all of His characteristics, attributes, the things He loves and the people that He loves and the things that He does not love. Then when we have read and understood just a small part of who God is, meditate on all that God is, then bring Him majesty out of our personal knowledge of who God is.
How do we give God the Father majesty? Focus on His greatness, His power, His love and mercy, His strength and might to deliver us. Obeying Him is giving Him majesty. Living a life that reflects Him is giving Him majesty. Living a life that demonstrates His power in us gives Him majesty.
Prayer:
Father God, we worship and praise You this morning. We give You glory and honor and majesty this morning because You are our Majesty. You are our all in all, You are the great I Am, our All Sufficiency. We praise You from the knowledge we have of You, and so we will praise You more and more each day as our knowledge grows of who You are and what You mean to us. In the lovely name of Jesus, Amen!
