No Way We Are Not Ashamed

Romans 1:16-17 ESV
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith for faith…”

Paul is introducing himself to the Romans in a letter. His mission was to tell as many in the Roman Empire as possible that the gospel of Jesus Christ is the revelation of God for eternal salvation.

Paul gives his opening thesis for the letter by stating the He is not ashamed by any means to tell everyone that it is only by faith in Jesus Christ that one can receive eternal salvation and he will never be ashamed to proclaim that gospel.

Jesus is the answer to those who seek more, something different from the world’s philosophies and beliefs. The Gospel of Jesus Christ is life, love, hope and peace. The world’s system offers none of those things.

In verse 17 Paul says how we come about receiving that life in Jesus is by faith. First by believing faith, then saving faith, then faith to receive all that God has for us.

Through faith in Jesus Christ we grow from faith to faith. Paul also says that through the gospel of Jesus Christ there is a righteousness of God that is revealed and only through Jesus are we made righteous, attaining right standing with God and justification.

Prayer:
Lord, I will never be ashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ because through that gospel I have received the righteousness of God and with God.
