We Are Not Our Own
Jeremiah 10:23-24 NLT
“I know, Lord, that our lives are not our own. We are not able to plan our own course. So correct me, Lord, but please be gentle…”
Sometimes we believe we are in control of our own destiny, but as Christians is that really true? No it’s not. The Father has a plan personalized for each and everyone of us. We can rebel against that plan, but does that nullify God’s plan? No, it doesn’t.
Jesus said to Saul on the road to Damascus, at Saul’s conversion, “It’s hard to kick against the goads.” What does that mean? Translation: “You’re fighting the conviction of your heart that’s trying to get you to go in the direction I have chosen for you.” So if we fight against God’s plan while trying to serve God, we are fighting God.
Jeremiah just speaks up for Israel and says, “I know, Lord, that our lives are not our own. We are not able to plan our own course.” Remember those words, they will come back around as we try to do things our way.
David said in Psalms 37:23-24 NKJV; “The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, And He delights in his way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down; For the Lord upholds him with His hand.”
So, God has a perfect plan, we do not have any other REAL plan but to follow His plan. If we try and do things our own way, we will fail, but God is right there to dust us off and send us in the right direction again and again and again…
Prayer:
Father, I pray Jeremiah’s prayer, “I know, Lord, that our lives are not our own. We are not able to plan our own course.” Please, please help us to stay on the path that set for us.
